vs St. Joseph
The Jayhawks took five games, but came through in the end with the sixth place finish in the 1A tournament over the Cougars. "The momentum changed in the middle there. We were no longer being aggressive, we were being tentative, but the last game we played like we were supposed to," said St. Joseph coach Ray Franklin, who was talking about why his team dropped two straight games after winning the first pair. The Jayhawks were led by Katie Wiechmann with nine kills, five solo blocks and 18 digs, but the defense especially was balanced as Kristine Voet dug the ball 22 times to lead the team, Michelle Chambers added 18 digs, and Jessica Eddy added 17 digs to her 13 assists. Laura Mol served up six aces in the match. Monument Valley was led with a great effort from Crystal Cly and some terrific energy from Lois Leber in a terrific comeback attempt and an eighth place finish in the tourney.
