Fremont took a mid-game lead with Abigail Valdez driving in four runs, and Adelaide Johnsen secured the win with eight strikeouts. Pleasant Grove rallied with two runs each in the seventh and eighth innings but fell short in their comeback effort. Game 2 is scheduled for Monday.
