Katelyn Wilson struck out eight batters as Bear River (31-2) won 6-3 against Desert Hills (31-2) in a crucial 4A State Championship Series opener. Bear River jumped to an early lead with two runs scored in each of the first two innings and added another in the third before sealing the victory with a late-game run in the sixth. Desert Hills' Riley Greene homered, and Bailey Lee added two RBIs, but their late two-run rally in the fifth was not enough to overcome Bear River's consistent performance.
