Ellie Pond powered Ridgeline to a 5-0 victory over Desert Hills in Game 1 of the 4A state championship series at BYU. Pond went 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs for the top-seeded Riverhawks (29-1). Brielle Gardiner earned the win in the circle, striking out eight batters while allowing just three hits. Abigail King and Ava Howell each contributed a double for Ridgeline, which scored two runs in the first inning and added three more in the third. Jojo Sparks hit a double for the second-seeded Thunder (25-5) in the loss.
