Roundup

In a thrilling game at Cedar Valley High School, the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles defeated the Cedar Valley Aviators 10-6 in the first game of their best-of-three series in the 5A regional playoffs. Maple Mountain started strong, scoring one run in the first inning and four in the second inning to take a commanding lead early on. Cedar Valley struggled to get on the scoreboard, with their only run coming in the fourth inning. Maple Mountain continued to dominate, scoring two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings, while Cedar Valley managed to score two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth inning. Despite Cedar Valley's late rally, Maple Mountain held on to win the game and take a 1-0 lead in the series. Lydia Tibbals was a standout player for Maple Mountain, going 3-for-3 with a double and three triples. Gracie Jensen also had a great game for Maple Mountain, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Ellie Jackson pitched a strong game for Maple Mountain, striking out two batters and giving up just nine hits. Mary Alyse Lundberg, Chaleah Workman, and Cate Underwood each had two hits for Cedar Valley, but it was not enough to overcome Maple Mountain's dominant performance. The two teams will meet again on Monday for the second game of the series, with Maple Mountain looking to clinch a spot in the next round of the playoffs. Cedar Valley, on the other hand, will need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
