Roundup

The Parowan Rams emerged victorious in a thrilling 2A state tournament winners bracket game against the Beaver Beavers at the Spanish Fork Sports Complex on May 11th. The No. 4 seed Rams came out on top with a final score of 8-6 against the No. 5 seed Beavers in a game that saw both teams give it their all. "We talked before we came up here and a big part of it was like, hey, 'you know, something's gonna go wrong. It's a game of mistakes, you're capitalizing on their mistakes. You're doing your best to not make one but it's gonna happen.' And we had that rough. I think it was the third or fourth inning where we had that rough little stretch. And we talked about when we were out there. We had to be together. We had to come together and just do it as a family and do it and do it together. So that was I think that's our big thing for this year," said Parowan coach Shelby Bartlett. The Rams got off to a strong start, scoring three runs in the first inning. However, the Beavers fought back and managed to stay close throughout the game. In the end, it was Parowan's Maycee Andersen who proved to be the difference maker, driving in the winning runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Madison Adams was the winning pitcher for the Rams, striking out eight batters, while Hallee Hawkins took the loss for the Beavers with two strikeouts. Adams also contributed at the plate, going 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs, including a home run. For the Beavers, Hawkins had an impressive game, going 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs, including a double. Despite their best efforts, however, it wasn't enough to overcome the Rams' strong performance. The win puts Parowan into the next round of the double elimination tournament, while Beaver will now face a must-win game in the losers bracket. Both teams can be proud of their efforts in what was an exciting and hard-fought playoff game.
