Spanish Fork and Bear River played a softball game Saturday morning that stretched more than two hours and ended in 10 innings. Bears pitcher Jordan Theurer gave the defending 3A state champions the victory with a two-run home run in the top of the 10th inning. Then she and her defense got the next three batters out, including a double play in which Theurer fielded the ball, threw to the shortstop Erin Fox, who was covering second, and then she fired to Robin Weatley on first for the game's final out. The loss means Spanish Fork had to immediately play Stansbury on the same Field, while Bear River prepared to meet Snow Canyon in the final winner's bracket game of the day.
