The Cougars defeated region-rival Granite to stay alive in the one-loss bracket of the 3A tournament. The two teams shared the region title, but the Cougars controlled the tournament game from beginning to end. f+bKassie Luckf-b pitched a complete game and f+bMay Yazzief-b had two doubles in the win that means Union will play the winner of the Bear River/Wasatch game Friday morning at 11. The loss sends Granite home after an impressive run in their first state tournament appearance.
