The Badgers came out strong with energy and composure as they took on the Raiders for fifth place in the 1A state tournament. Wayne counted on the services of Krista Durfey all tournament as their leader on offense, and middle blocker Jami Jackson as their defensive stopper at the net. "I was proud of what we accomplished in this tournament. I thought we did well, and we worked so hard this year," said Wayne coach Heidi Woolsey, who noted that her team only boasts four seniors and is young behind the senior leadership. She was happy with the way her seniors took charge in the tournament, and had to have been pleased also with the play of junior Brittani Nelson and junior Amanda Grundy, who'll take the team on their shoulders next season. Whitehorse was led by the solid play and hard punch of senior Maray Filfred and some nice balance from the rest of the team.
