Kandice Gleave's 14-16 free throw shooting helped the defending 1A champions withstand a comeback from region rival Wayne. The senior and reigning MVP finished with 28 points, the most points scored by any individual in Thursday's games. Cassey Manzanares led Wayne with 14 points. She was also key in leading their defense, which held fifth-ranked Piute to two points for six and a half minutes of the fourth quarter. The loss sends Wayne into the consolation bracket, while the win means Piute will take on Rich in Friday's semifinal game.
