Layton cruised to a victory over Granger in the first round of the 5A girls basketball tournament. Led by Brooke Nelson, Layton jumped out to an early lead, which they stretche to double digits by midway through the second quarter. Nelson finished with 16 points, while Annie Richins added 11 points. Eleven Layton players scored in the win, which means Layton moves on to play Alta in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Granger was led offensively by Candace gallaggher, who had 11 points, and Amanda Orgill, who added seven points. Eight Granger players scored in the loss.
