Game Details - Girls Basketball

The Taylorsville Warriors overcame cold shooting and turnovers and defeated the undermanned Jordan Beetdiggers in the first round of the 5A girls basketball tournament at Salt Lake Community College. The Warriors were led by Chelsea Robinson, who finished with 18 points. Teammates Tamarra Evans added 12 and Shawnee Slade scored eight in the win. Jordan was playing without two starters, after one rolled her ankle on Saturday and another was dismissed for breaking team rules. In spite of the inexperience, the Beetdiggers stayed within striking distance most of the game, until the final quarter. Julie Leatherwood led Jordan offensively with 10 points, Lindsey Nielsen and Jenn Lind added five, and sophomore Adrieene Nielsen added four points. Taylorsville will take on the winner of the Riverton/Fremont game on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
