OREM - Panguitch won its fifth straight 1A girls basketball title Saturday night at Timpview High School in Orem. The Bobcats had a rougher time than in years past, but sailed through the championship game, leading the entire time. They withstood a passionate come-back attempt by the Buffaloes with strong defense and almost perfect freethrow shooting by Brittney Nay. The senior made 11 of 12 freethrows and finished with 15 points, all in the final quarter. Teammates Jenna Sawyer and Halie Sawyer, who are sisters, added 9 and 12 points respectively. Valley was led on both ends of the court by Jana Glover, who made 4 three-point shots, and finished with 16 points. It is the third time this season that the Bobcats have bested the Buffaloes, who both come from region 15. Last year the two teams met in the finals and the final score was 42-34.
