TAYLORSVILLE - The Warriors first-round game turned out to be a near upset as the Riverton Silverwolves took the No. 1 Warriors to the final seconds. The Silverwolves missed a shot in the game's final seconds and lost 34-32. Riverton got off to a solid start and led by two points at half-time. But the Warriors had a good third quarter and managed to hang on for the first round win in the 5A girls tournament at Salt Lake Community College. Taylorsville was led by Tamarra Evans, who had 10 points. She was the only Warrior to get into double figures. Taylorsville struggled from the freethrow line hitting just 7-20. Riverton was led by Megan Lay, who finished with 19 points. Teammate Becky Wolf added seven in the loss.
