OREM The Murray Spartans built a huge 15-point second-half lead and then held off a late charge by Logan to pull out the 42-37 upset at the 4A State Tournament Monday. Murray jumped out to a 36-21 lead early in the second half, but that's when Logan's Molly Hillyard got hot. She drained three 3-pointers and recorded 11 straight points as the Region 4 champs cut the deficit to 36-32. The Spartans' defense buckled down in the final quarter and the Grizzlies never got closer. Murray's Alayna Cary and Logan's Hillyard each led their teams with 17 points. Murray will face East in a quarterfinal game at Salt Lake Community College on Wednesday. The teams met twice this year during Region 5 play, and East won both times.
