OREM � The Cyprus Pirates knew they'd have a hard time hanging with No. 2 Timpview. They didn't exactly help themselves either by spotting the the T-Birds a huge 19-3 first-quarter lead. That ultimately proved to be the difference as the the T-Birds beat the Pirates 77-59 in Monday's 4A first-round game. All five of Timpview's 3-pointers came in the first quarter, as they improved to 21-1 on the season. Stephanie Red led the T-Birds with 21 points while Miriam Palkki chipped in 14. Cyprus was led by Penny Jones' 17 points and 14 rebounds.
