Redemption was earned for No. 1 Timpview as the Thunderbirds made their repeat trip to the 5A state championship a success by defeating No. 10 Bountiful, 23-15. Bountiful rallied in the fourth quarter to trail by one possession before a fourth-down stop just before the line to gain sealed the deal. The win secured Timpview's 14th state title in school history, the sixth-most all-time in state titles. Sophomore quarterback Helaman Casuga finished the night 16 of 29 passing for 231 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, and senior receiver Quezon Villa had six catches for 112 yards and a score to lead all receivers. Bountiful senior quarterback Emerson Geilman completed 12 of 25 passes for 128 yards with a TD and a pick while sophomore running back collected 148 rushing yards and a TD on 17 carries.
