No. 8 Green Canyon punched its first-ever ticket to the 4A state championship game with a defensive masterclass, shutting out No. 4 Park City for a 21-0 upset victory in the semifinals at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The Wolves' defense pitched its third shutout of the season, holding Park City to just 153 total yards and just 74 in the first half. Offensively, Green Canyon put up a respectable 256 total yards with 140 of them on the ground. Eric Oates led the rushing attack with 22 carries for 85 yards. Under center, junior quarterback Payton Wilson completed 9 of 14 pass for 116 yards and two touchdowns, both of them over 30 yards. The Wolves will play in the 4A championship at Rice-Eccles on Friday, Nov. 17.
