No. 2 came out on top of a thrilling game against the defending 3A state champion No. 3 Morgan and secured a 35-21 victory, punching the Templars first-ever ticket to the 3A state championship game and first state title game since 2013. Manti junior quarterback Maison Starkweather went off for 25-38 passing for 292 yards and three touchdowns without a turnover, connecting twice with sophomore receiver Stone Mortensen. The two teams combined for 12 sacks, but Manti defensive back Reggie Frischknecht also picked up an interception in the first quarter. Morgan QB Beck Sheffield completed 15 of 32 passes for 173 and two TDs with the interception, and running back Jett Salmon collected a game-high 49 rushing yards. The Templars will move on to face No. 1 Richfield in the 3A state championship.
