In a thrilling quadruple-overtime 5A second round game, the 11th-seeded Alta Hawks edged outlasted No. 6 seed West, 36-34, getting revenge after losing to West by 26 points in the regular season. Slade Taylor sealed the win for the Hawks in the fourth overtime as he caught the two-point conversion pass from Matt McKea. Alta is set to face third-seeded Roy in the quarterfinals on Nov. 3. Alta led 17-7 early in the third quarter, but a pair of third-quarter TD passes from Isaiah SueSue over the final six minutes of the third gave the home Panthers the 30-17 lead. Coleman Fisher's 30-yard field goal tied the game with 8:49 left, forcing overtime. Both teams scored TDs on their first two possessions in overtime, but beginning in the third overtime the new UHSAA rules call for just two-point conversions. Neither team scored in the third overtime, but Taylor did in the fourth OT to book Alta's spot in the quarterfinals.
