Box Elder's red-hot start to the season has suddenly come to a screeching halt. A week after suffering its first loss of the season against Bountiful, Box Elder lost again in Week 9 falling to Woods Cross 17-12 in the Region 5 clash. Box Elder led 6-0 at the half, cut Woods Cross scored 17 straight points in the second half to stretch the lead to 17-6 but the Bees scored again to make it a 17-12 score with 4:09 remaining. Ben Smith-Mecham had a big 39-yard TD in the third quarter, and then Lock Smoot raced 73 yards for a critical TD in the fourth quarter.
