Timpview outdueled the Pioneer in a battle to determine the Region 8 champion. Micah Beckstead and Tei Nacua scored touchdowns early to give the Thunderbirds an early lead, but Jackson Brousseau would connect with Jaxon Christensen for two scores in the third quarter to tie the game up. Later in the period Liu Aumavae would throw for his second touchdown of the game before scoring on the ground to help his team grab the win. Timpview will take on Jordan to close their schedule with a chance to finish undefeated in region play. “We came in thinking Lehi is one of the top teams in 5A for sure. Plus (this win) was for the region title, so it’s good for our kids. I think our kids outdid some adversity. I think penalties were 22 to eight; kind of hard to believe.
