Aiden Vargas scored one of three goals as No. 22 West defeated No. 11 Wasatch 3-2 in the first round of the Class 5A state tournament. West took an early lead with goals from Vargas and Redwaan Kohistani in the first half. Wasatch's Juan Mendoza and Caleb Balch each found the net to tie the game 2-2 at halftime, but David Baeza's second-half goal secured the win for West.
