After trailing for three quarters, No. 7 Timpview went ahead on the first made shot of the fourth quarter and defensively shut down rival No. 14 Orem, 47-34, as the Thunderbirds secured their spot in the 5A state championship game. The T-Birds went on a 14-1 run over the third and fourth quarters to take control of the game, shooting 50% from the field in the final period. Timpview senior James Rust led all scorers with 19 points on 7-11 shooting. Freshman Anthony Falesi and sophomore Trey Hiatt each scored 10 points for Orem.
