Despite the efforts of a plucky Providence Hall squad, No. 1 Manti made light work of the No. 17 Patriots as the Templars cruised to a 66-47 victory in the second round of the 3A state championship tournament. Manti led by 24 points going into the fourth and held on from there. Junior forward Reggie Frischknecht led the Templars with 14 points, while senior guard Kayson Douglas added 12 points. The Templars made a comparatively-low five 3-pointers. Manti will head to Southern Utah University on Feb. 23 to take on No. 8 Canyon View in the quarterfinals. Senior Boston Stein led the Patriots with 12 points, while juniors Dallin Wells and Dawson McDermaid added 10 points each. Providence Hall finishes with a 6-15 record.
