In a low-scoring 5A semifinal in which both teams shot 29 percent from the field, Alta scored six points in the final 25 seconds to pull away from the Cavemen for the victory. RJ Beard scored on a lay-up with 25 seconds remaining to stretch lead to 34-31, and after American Fork missed a 3-pointer Trevor Hill iced the victory with a pair of free throws. Hill scored 11 points to lead Alta, which impressively outrebounded American Fork 32-28. Turnovers plagued the Cavemen, particularly in the first half. It finished with 13 turnovers for the game.
