Dax Watts threw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead No. 1 seed American Fork past No. 8 seed Syracuse 3-0 in the 6A state tournament at BYU on Monday. The Cavemen (21-6) scored two runs in the second inning and never looked back. American Fork leadoff hitter CJ Mascaro went 2 for 2 with two walks and an RBI to support Watts' stellar outing. Crew Ingersoll delivered a key two-run single in the second inning to get American Fork on the board, while Cache Poulson added a double in the win. Watts was dominant on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing just one hit and three walks to earn the victory. The Titans (14-11) struggled offensively, managing only the single hit in the game. Jake Hopkins took the loss for Syracuse, striking out two in his outing.
