Clearfield edged Northridge 3-1 in the opening game of the 5A state tournament Regionals series. Taven Swartz earned the win for the Falcons (13-13), striking out five batters, while Jake Ross led the offense, going 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Clearfield broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the fifth inning to secure the victory over the Knights (12-13). Despite recording 10 strikeouts, Jon Olsen took the loss for Northridge.
