After scoring multiple runs in the first three innings, top seeded South Sevier answered a late sixth inning rally by No. 5 San Juan to hold off the Broncos 16-10 and advance to the 2A state championship. Entering the sixth inning, the Rams had a commanding eight run lead. But six runs in the top of the sixth brought San Juan right back into the game. There was no panic from the defending champs though, as South Sevier scored four runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away. Senior Taiten Brown went three for three at the plate with five RBIs to help lead South Sevier. Fellow senior Keegon Heath picked up the win on the mound, pitching five and a third innings with four strikeouts. The top seeded Rams will now look to avenge Friday's loss to Kanab and defend their state title. The Rams will need to win two straight over the Cowboys to hoist the trophy once more.
