Sophomore right-hander Jordan West threw five shutout innings for Taylorsville, allowing just three hits, and Jake Greenberg got the last six outs to propel the Warriors into Friday's 5A championship finale against American Fork. Kyle Hoffman had a pair of run-scoring singles, while Dalton Carroll added two hits and an RBI for the Warriors. Larenz Stansfield, Adam Fullmer and Hayden Heugly also had a pair of hits apiece for the Region 2 champions, with Mark Lesuma smacking an RBI triple to bring home Fullmer, who sliced a leadoff triple in the fourth inning. Heugly and Dallas Carroll each had doubles for the Warriors, who will try to win their first state title since 2002 — but must beat the Cavemen twice in order to do it.
