American Fork had a 9-3 lead after three innings and removed starting pitcher Josh Mooney. The Vikings came back with four runs in the fourth and two in the fifth, after which the Cavemen re-entered Mooney back as pitcher. Viewmont coach Roger Farnsworth was ejected after arguing an interference call at second base in American Fork's six-run third inning. With two outs in the top of the seventh, Viewmont's Chris Larsen smacked a two-run double into the left-field corner to tie the game. Kory Carlson then delivered a two-out single down the right field line to push home the go-ahead run. Vance Green added some insurance with a two-run homer to left.
