San Juan won the 2A state championship behind another outstanding pitching performace by f+bJason Hammondf-b and some early offense by the top of its lineup. f+bDallin Shumwayf-b was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and f+bRoman Blackf-b hit a two-run triple. f+bKyle Hoslerf-b picked up the three-out save in the seventh inning and also had two RBIs on a first-inning single. Gunnison finished second despite the nearly heroic efforts of f+bChad Averyf-b. He left in the first inning with an injured knee but returned in the fifth inning and hit two triples with three RBIs.
